Q: Which Video Player do I need for the Boystation movies?
A: The MPEG 3000 files are playing in most of any
video player available. To play the RealPlayer files (ending
with *.rm *.ram *.rpm) are best playing with a recent version of
RealPlayer. That player is FREE and you can download it from
the link on the left "player software".
Q: Do I need a CODEC for the MPEG 3000 files? A: Yes, you need to install a codec. The MPEG 3000 files are MPEG2 coded files which is DVD format. Easy to burn on DVD
and playable on any home DVD/V system BUT if you want to play these files on your computer, you have to install the MPEG2 codec. Then MS MediaPlayer and RealPlayer can play these videos too! Please go to our software download page:

Q: What do I need to stream Montreal Boys, Squirtz and the other free Boystation Bonus sites.
A: These sites use JAVA or a QuickTime Plugin to stream their feeds. Here you can download the free software you need for these sites:
Q: I get a "General Error" when
trying to stream a movie, what is wrong?
A: The likely reason is because RealPlayer is not authenticating
properly. However, the solution is simple... Enable RealPlayer Cookies.
Tools -> Preferences ->
Connection -> Internet/Privacy -> (click) Enable RealPlayer Cookies
Q: Can RealPlayer 10 play all the movies on Boystation?
A: Absolutely! But be aware that with the default setting
RealPlayer tries to download the entire movie before starting
to play, which means you will be staring
at the "loading" screen for quite some time which of course would
lead someone to believe that our movies cannot be played in RealPlayer.
The solution: "Instant Playback" must be enabled. (off by default)
Tools -> Preferences ->
Playback Settings -> Instant Playback
Update (for version 10): Instant Playback
is now called "TurboPlay" within RealPlayer.
Tools -> Preferences ->
General -> Playback Settings -> (click) Enable TurboPlay
Q: Every time I try to view a streaming video online, it's really choppy and my
RealPlayer is continuously buffering, what is wrong?
A: For whatever reason, your computer is not getting
the data stream fast enough and your RealPlayer is "waiting" for
the next bit of the movie to download.
If you experience this buffering often, you can get a smoother
playback by telling RealPlayer to buffer more movie at startup,
so whenever there are delays in the download, you are still
a few seconds "ahead" and therefore don't notice the delay. To
set this configuration...
* Open RealPlayer
* From the menu select:
View -> Preferences -> Connection
* Select "Buffer at least 30 seconds before playing"
* Confirm/close the window.
You may also want to the browser's temp directory
If you still get excessive buffering after changing this setting then your
connection is probably too slow. Remember that you need a minimum a 56k connection to view
streaming movies online, and then you're best to only try the (MODEM QUALITY).
If you wish to view the higher quality movies, or your connection is less than 56k, simply
download the complete movie to your hard drive and then view it.
It's also possible that your connection is to slow. You need at least 56K
modem to play the streaming videos online (MODEM QUALITY). If your
connection is too slow we suggest that you ONLY DOWNLOAD the video, then view it. There will
be no more choppiness or buffering.
Q: I have downloaded one of your movies but I
can't find it on my computer, HELP me find it PLEASE!
A: When
using Internet Explorer (and possibly some other browsers)
the downloaded movies are being saved in the browser's
temp folder. The location of this folder changes between Windows
versions, but the folder name should be something like "Temporary
Internet Files". As an example, on WinXP/2000, the folder should
be located in C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Login_Name\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files To choose the download
location, right-click the movie DOWNLOAD link and choose the
option "Save Target As..." From there you can select where
the movie will be saved.
Q: I
use Mac OS X and noticed that your movies sometimes have an extra extension and/or do
not play correctly after being saved on my computer. How
can I fix this?
A: It
seems that OS X (at least some versions) adds the
extension ".mpe" onto
our MPEG movies during download. The best advise we can give
at the moment is to simply replace ".mpe" extension with ".mpg"
and the MPEG movie should then play as expected. |
